ABOUT THE SCHOOL

 

 

The Submarine School of Music was founded in 2018 by Ben Morey and Katie Morey.
 

Ben and Katie Morey have been performing, composing and honing their craft for close to 20 years. Graduates of SUNY Geneseo and SUNY Fredonia, respectively, both Mr. and Mrs. Morey studied music, are multi instrumentalists and have been playing in bands and teaching students of all ages privately since 2010. 

 

They hatched the idea of "The Submarine School of Music" before they got married, when they were just friends. They both played in bands and would talk at shows about their dreams. Back then, both were teaching a few private lessons, but they talked of someday owning a school together. Before they knew it, they were married, and had grown the business enough to make a giant leap and find a commercial space for their school. It just so happened that they found a dentist's office and home for sale, all in one package! After moving out all of the dental equipment and giving every room a more lively paint job, they were ready to rock & roll. Then the pandemic hit! They adjusted and did all their lessons virtually until it was safe to have guests again. At this point they found a wonderful core faculty to teach along side them - and that's where the story leaves off!
